Applied Technology/ROP

Applied Technology courses expose students to technical environments that integrate with math and science standards to show our students STEAM-based applications to the modern world.  All courses focus on relevance in education and offer project-based learning that promotes creative and analytical thinking. Students enjoy access to advanced technology, including our auto shop, Makerspace, and woodshop facilities.

Tam offers the following Applied Technology courses. Note that a few courses will not be offered for 2024-25 school year. See the links at the top of this page for more details and info on the courses and pathways listed below.

Computer Science

  • Computer Programming 1/2 
  • AP Computer Principles - the project-based AP course, focused on the Python programming language
  • AP Computer Science A  - the exam-based AP Computer Science class in Java

Engineering

  • Introduction to Engineering Design 
  • Principles of Engineering
  • Engineering Projects (NOT offered for 2024-2025)

Architecture

  • Architecture 1/2
  • Civil Engineering & Architecture 3/4 (NOT offered for 2024-2025)
  • Honors Architecture 5/6  (NOT offered for 2024-2025)

Automotive

  • Automotive Technology 1-2
  • Advanced Automotive Technology

Academy of Integrated Media Studies

  • Documentary and Integrated Media Studies (for juniors and seniors as part of the A.I.M. program)


Regional Occupational Program (ROP)

The Regional Occupational Program (ROP) is a statewide program where technical skill classes are taught in a variety of industry areas.  Any student may enroll in any course, regardless of campus.  High school credit may be earned upon successful course completion of an ROP course.  Job search workshops are included in each program and job assistance is provided.  Students must be 16 years old by the end of the school year to be eligible for enrollment in ROP courses. Some classes offer cross credit with the College of Marin.  For further information, contact your
